Freight transport insurance

Practical experience shows that senders often leave many transport risks inadequately covered under a freight transport insurance policy.

The customer assumes, wrongly, that goods are insured during transport by statutory provisions such as the CMR Convention (land transport), the Hague-Visby rules (ocean freight), the CIM Convention (rail transport) and the Warsaw/Montreal Convention (air freight). However, these statutory provisions cover the (limited) liability of the carrier and not the actual value of the goods. Most transport movements of course run smoothly, but even with the greatest of care the risk of damage or accident can never be ruled out completely. Goods can be damaged or lost during a traffic accident or during loading and unloading operations. There is also the risk of fire or theft. Freight transport insurance covers such risks. It is just a question of choosing the right insurance.

Before concluding an all-risk insurance policy the customer can call upon the expertise and insurance services of DB Schenker.

At DB Schenker the customer has come to the right place for comprehensive advice. Together we consider the magnitude of the risk – which will depend upon the nature of the goods, the value, the origin, the destination, the means of transport and the handling – so that we can then propose the method of insurance. Thanks to wide-ranging experience with all sorts of policies and an extensive network, DB Schenker can offer the customer three important trump cards: optimal insurance, a competitive price and quick and efficient administrative processing of case files.

DB Schenker offers you the very best advice for securing optimal insurance at a competitive price.
